Re: Squeeze
I'd put them ahead of Lennon and Mac

Re: Squeeze
Ok vexed. So which partnership would you put ahead of them? Jagger and Richards are the obvious one, and perhaps followed by Page and Plant, then Morrissey and Marr. But I'd argue that lyrically Difford and Tillbrook knock them all into a cocked hat.
Their songs are soulful, humorous, emotional, cynical. You name it, they cover it .

Re: Squeeze
I've enjoyed the times I've seen Glenn Tilbrook solo more than the times I've seen Squeeze. You get all the classics, some of his own solo stuff and some inspired cover versions. He did a few Jimi Hendrix numbers one evening as if to show off what a phenomenal guitarist he is. As it is I've never seen anyone better able to play something extraordinarily complicated and fast on guitar while singing in his usual laid back manner. A very gifted man. I've seen Chris Difford solo too and he's good but not in the same league as Tilbrook. But if that Tilbrook was to come into my living room, take the remote and change the channel while Homes Under the Hammer was on...I'd say Oi Tilbrook! No! I admire your chirpy East Ender comedy meets drama lyrics...etc. (Lost the run of myself there)

I liked them they got into the "blue eyed soul" phase with songs like Tempted and Coffee in Bed. Those songs had a lot a of air play on the Stateside....

I downloaded Cradle To Grave this morning, don't know how it was available, on MP3 Fiesta.

Only 12 tracks though. On iTunes there were 16.

Re: Squeeze
Elvis Costello will always have my upmost respect in rescuing a Bob Dylan gig some years ago now.

Bob was wasted..eventually come on stage late..did a pathetically cringey two numbers..of which he forget the lines to his own songs.
He staggered off and Elvis saved the day by taking his place already doing the support act earlier.
